The great worrier, the centurian man Lala
Vidya Sagar Oswal was born at village, Jodha Ludhiana in 1908. Mother Smt.
Akkibhai was full of joy at his birth. His father Lala Shri Aasaram used to
run a small shop in village Jodha.
Lala ji had a long stressful journey from simple layman to big business
Tycoon .He started his life as a simple employee in a shop. With his
hardwork, patience and intelligence he reached to the highest level of being
considered as a doyen of Industrial revolution in hosiery in Ludhiana and
was instrumental in bringing Ludhiana on the industrial map of the World,
known as Manchester of India.
Lala ji had a strong stable personality. Despite many hurdles in life he had
a strong determination & faith in life and never lost hope to achieve what
he wanted to achieve. The great industrialist he was, but very humble to
sufferers and helpless people .
The brave man, a great fighter, a revolutionist, a great thinker, a great
teacher and above all a great philanthropist, he always thought
progressively and was responsible for Industrialist revolution first and
later Medical revolution by setting up the biggest comprehensive Cancer Care
Center in the city of Ludhiana on 1984
He was married to Smt. Mohan Dai Oswal who was very religious lady .He was
blessed by four sons and a daughter. His sons Mr. Jawahar lal Oswal, Abhay
Kumar Oswal, Neelam Oswal and Jangi Lal Oswal and Mrs Vinita Oswal,
Following the footsteps of their father, they have also established
themselves as the Leading Industrialists of the Country. After the death of
their mother Smt. Mohan Dai Oswal, The family started first Cancer Hospital
in this region of the Country known as Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Treatment &
Research Foundation in the city of Ludhiana. At present it is the biggest
cancer center of the northern India equipped with latest state of art
diagnostic & therapeutic equipment. Lala ji dedicated his life &
particularly last few years in upgrading the hospital. He had very
progressive mind and always looked ahead. His family is committed to upgrade
it further with the latest state of art equipment .
Unfortunately he died on 20th July,2005 at Oswal hospital which was
virtually his home, after a brief illness. The Ludhianavis Salute this great
, very simple down to earth, and the Centurian Man.
